WORLD DIABETES DAY
Focusing on the theme “Women and Diabetes: Our right to a healthy future” , Medical Surgical Nursing Department came up with an awareness programme which laid emphasised on lifestyle modification, more exercise, yoga , and dietary management .The beneficiary were the Primary school teachers of Choithram school , Indore .
The program was organized by the Medical Surgical Department and OBG department of Choithram College of Nursing under the guidance of Principal Dr. Usha Ukande, Professor Manju Joshi, HOD, Mrs. Shweta Pattnaik, Mrs. Ancy Varkey, Mrs. Jini Varghese, Miss Anu Rajan, Mrs. Rosana James and Miss. Bobina Paulose. The activity included health awareness talk, power point presentation on gestational diabetes mellitus and the demonstration of yogic exercises.
The session started at 10am with an effective presentation on gestational diabetes mellitus by the M.sc (N) final year students. The session was very interactive , all the queries of the audience related to diabetes mellitus were cleared. The group included approximately 150 teachers. Secondly, the exercises were demonstrated by B. Sc Nursing II yr students to the audiences. In addition to that, the school teachers were also made aware about the activities of natural birthing centre (SWA) of Choithram Hospital and Research Centre, the presentation was given by Ass .Prof Bobina Paulose. The Principal and the teachers of the school were really thankful for enriching them with additional knowledge on diabetes Mellitus.
